Habitat Systems Engineer

Habitat / ECLSSLos Angeles, CAFull-timeOn-site

Advance conceptual and prototype work on extraterrestrial habitats, ECLSS, and surface assembly.

Overview

You will advance the design of pressurized habitats and life-support systems, from concept through prototype and test. The work is multi-disciplinary: structures, fluids, thermal, and human factors, all constrained by mass, volume, and the realities of the surface.

Responsibilities

  • Develop habitat and ECLSS architecture and trades
  • Design and test prototype subsystems (pressure, atmosphere, thermal, water)
  • Perform safety and failure analysis on habitat systems
  • Define concepts for surface assembly and modularity

Requirements

  • Experience with ECLSS, pressure systems, or closed-loop life support
  • Strong systems engineering and trade-study skills
  • Familiarity with relevant safety and qualification standards
  • Aerospace, mechanical, or equivalent engineering background

Nice to have

  • Prior habitat or space station module work
  • Experience with closed-loop environmental control testing
  • Human factors or crew-system interface experience
