Robotics Mechanical Engineer

Overview

You will design the mechanisms, structures, and moving assemblies that let our rovers and habitats survive and function in harsh environments. This is hands-on work: you will own parts from concept through manufacture, test, and qualification, working closely with vendors and our internal test lab.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanism and structural design from concept through qualification
• Perform structural and thermal analysis to inform design decisions
• Specify manufacturing processes and work with suppliers to deliver quality parts
• Design and execute qualification tests (vibration, thermal, dust, lifecycle)

Requirements

• Experience designing mechanisms and structures that have been built and tested
• Proficiency with CAD and FEA tools
• Hands-on familiarity with manufacturing, tolerancing, and DfM
• Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent experience

Nice to have

• Prior aerospace or robotics hardware that flew or was fielded
• Experience with extreme-environment sealing and thermal design
• Composite or additive manufacturing background
